New liquor store prepares to open in Crystal
The city of Crystal has officially announced the grand opening of Hope Liquor set to take place on April 13.
Located at 111 Willow Bend, the store will be Missy Hope’s first business in the United States. Hope was born and raised in Tanzania where she owned a hair braiding store and sold hair products to people in Uganda and Tanzania before she immigrated to the U.S. to follow her dreams.
When Hope moved to the U.S. in 2012, she worked multiple jobs to make the best life for her and her son. By 2017, she was introduced to the African Development Center, which helped her connect with workshops to buy her first home and people who could help her gain experience with owning a liquor store.
In 2022, she was introduced to the owners of Park Liquor including Jackson George, Frank Ngafua and Elena George who gave Hope every piece of experience she would need to own a store by letting her run one of Park Liquor’s locations herself.
“I would really like to send my appreciation to Jackson George, Frank Ngafua and Elena George – owners of the Park Liquor for letting me run the store like my very own business,” Hope said.
